Panasonic R3 Photos

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

I’ve haven’t had much time to post, I’ve been too busy playing with this new toy. I’m just posting some photos and later I’ll be commenting more in depth how this wonderful machine works with Linux. The first impressions have been really good, it does not weight much, the keys are big enough to work comfortably and Linux support is pretty good. This photos were taken minutes after receiving it, thats the reason for the Japanese windows ( or windows at all). It would be nice to be able to choose if you want to pay for Windows every time you buy a notebook.

New Laptop Coming !

Friday, February 4th, 2005

Today my father phoned me from Japan, he has gone there to do some work, and told me that he got the sub-notebook I had asked for. I was really surprised as I wasn’t quite sure he could find it on regular shops, but I guess sub-notebooks are more popular there than here.

The computer is a Panasonic R3, and will be with me tomorrow evening, I probably won’t sleep. The specs are really nice, it’s a Centrino Pentium M at 1.1 GHz 2Mb L2 Cache, 10.4 inch TFT giving 1024×768 , 40Gb of ATA100 HD, 9 hour of battery life, a size of 229mm x 183.5mm x 24.2mm and a weight of 990g.

This photo from a Gizmodo review illustrates what will look like my desk tomorrow.

Today through Grady Booch’s weblog I’ve found this funny switch to PC ad video . Worth having a look at it.
